AVP Huntington field is set - Articles

When the dust cleared at the AVP Huntington Qualifier (and the dusty Huntington sand does take a while to clear), nearly all of the top seeds had packed up and gone home. Of the top four seeds on both the Men's and Women's draw, only No. 2 seed Ali Daley McColloch/Kelly Reeves remained. No. 1 seed Dana Fiume/Amanda Wiggins lost to the "other" Dalhausser, Jennifer Dalhausser/Leah Hinkey. No. 3 seed Meg Dawson/Andrea Peterson were defeated by Katie Jameson/Tracy Jones, perhaps better known as the Lindquist sisters. Surprisingly, No. 4 seed Kristin Monforte/Traci Morin failed to advance against No. 36 seed Cecilia Agraz/Felicia Arriola. On the Men's side, No. 1 Jeremy Casebeer/Derek Olson fell to Kevin McColloch/Matt Olson in a 21-17, 18-21,15-10 match on stadium court. No. 4 Adam Cabbage and John Moran dropped a 22-20, 21-15 decision to Avery Drost and Gregg Weaver. No. 3 Paul Araiza/Alejandro Parra fell victim to a Cody Kessel blocking exhibition 22-20, 21-19. No. 2 seed Ty Loomis/Ed Ratledge dropped consecutive games to Michael Brunsting/Chase Frishman. The four Qualifying Men's teams are: No. 9 seed Miles Evans/Curt Toppel, who won three consecutive three game matches to qualify; No. 5 Avery Drost/Gregg Weaver, who played consistent quality ball all day; No. 6 Maddison/Riley McKibbin, who played big at the net; No. 7 Michael Brunsting/Chase Frishman, who surprised some excellent teams today. The four Qualifying Women's teams are: No. 8 Taylor Nutterfield/Claire Smalzer, a Texas team; No. 20 Avery Bush and Carol Welcher; note the name Avery Bush, as this Loyola Marymount chaser...
